Doosan Infracore (China) Co. recently broke its monthly excavator sales record and reached the 50,000-unit milestone in aggregate sales. DICC started selling excavators in China in 1997, when it sold 234 units.Sales for 2007 totaled 11,026 units, a 50-fold increase in a decade. This remarkableaccomplishment was made possible by thedevelopment of customized products to suit local needs, expansion of the sales and after-sales service network, and continued efforts to raise competitiveness.
In March, Doosan Infracore sold 2,910 excavators in China, a new monthly record and a 42 percent increase from the previous monthly high of 2,051 units achieved in March 2007. This figure is almost equal to the number of Doosan excavators bought in Korea during all of last year. DICC sold 4,817 excavators in China during the first quarter of 2008, up 50 percent from a year earlier.
DICC has made other remarkable accomplishments as well. The company holds the top share of China s excavator market and has been ranked first for customer satisfaction in the Excavator category during each of the past five years.
DICC s success can be attributed to an ongoing localization effort and differentiation strategy that includes the establishment of a nationwide sales and after-sales service network in China. At present, the network spans 280 sales and after-sales service locations, the largest organization of its kind in the country.
DICC offers after-sales service 24 hours a day, and service is free for the first 8,000 hours of equipment operation.
DICC is a foreign excavator maker in China that is wholly independent. The company has differentiated itself with prompt decision-making, operational transparency, and customized products to accommodate local needs. Moreover, the market-sensing system enables quick response to changing market demand.
DICC President Kim Dong-chul Kim said, This year we aim to sell at least 13,500 excavators and introduce a line of wheel loaders in the second half that have been designed exclusively for China. Our legendary success in this market will continue in the future, too. Our goal is to be the top construction equipment maker in China by 2012.
Meanwhile, Doosan Infracore acquired Yantai Yuhua Machinery, a Chinese wheel loader manufacturer, last year. A new wheel loader plant is scheduled for completion this October, and the annual output capacity will be 7,500 units. The goal is to sell 15,000 wheel loaders a year by 2014, putting Doosan Infracore on top of the local market.
